Axle Advise

I am a way new to go karts, im starting with a axle and i was looking at different types and im wondering how to connect a axle with a differential do you connect it like a standard axle by adding a sprocket onto it? or is there some other device im missing? and if anyone has any ideas for a frame i am looking to build one wiht susspension on the back rear axle. I found a axle at northern tool its a Heavy Duty Differential Axle — 38in. Length

if your doing offroading with it you want to have a live axle. diferentals tend to let one wheel slip when offroading.

I have this diff axle and am very pleased with it. They sell several
different sprokets that bolt on to the diff. I had one drilled for the
bolt holes at a machine shop since I wanted a smaller size then what they offered. Any 1 inch bore wheels with a 3/4 inch step
and 1/4 inch keyway fit and bolt right on the end of the axles. You do need to support it with 2 bearings at each side - see pics on my thread "another kart project finished" on page 2

I'm in the process of building a kart from scratch right now and I just got my differential axle in from northern tool. I was looking at the pics of "another kart project finished" and from what I can see, your axle sprocket (or pulley in my case) has to be mounted to the center section of the axle - is this correct?
