 :smiley_omg: :surrender:

Thanks for including the source site; I had already been aware of just how dangerous things were back then (due to my history addiction), but I haven't had very many direct sources for the original data. It just seems to get filtered/ dumbed down for the general media......

If you guys like vintage racing, check out the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. It's a week+ long series of events culminating with a multi-acre car show (held on a golf course!) showcasing anything from turn-of-the-20th-century steam cars to original chassis'd GT40's worth MILLIONS to the hypercars of today, such as a 50th Anniversary Lamborghini Aventador. It's an awesome event, open to the public, and a charity fundraiser.

Also, did I mention that they race classic cars on a public road closed course? And the classics run on true-to-time tires? It's awesome, it's the largest vintage race in the U.S., and it's the only one run on city streets.

Here's (jump to 15:30) an incredible Lotus getting right into some opposite lock at the start of my favorite part of the course; Serpentine Drive! Check out the earlier parts of this video, too, for some really unique cars racing nearly wheel to wheel.
