Ok... so mountain bike shocks were not the best idea.

After assembly it was soon found that the weight of the kart (withour the rider) was even too heavy for use...

Luckily for us we had some mini bike shocks which once again had been found in a skip bin to come to the rescue. - This design also failed. It seemed that what was perfect or overdesign hanging in the air... and hard to compress by hand was no where near stiff enough to handle the load under a leveraged situation.

We had one more trick up our sleeve before we were destined for a rigid front. Some old springs which im still not sure where they are from lying around...

SUCCESS !! a design that worked.. I present to you our indepenandant front suspension...

As you can see the combination of the mini bike shocks and the springs gives enough flex and strength!

Steering assembly will need some support at the botoom and some bump stops to limit the turning ability.

So next is the back half the kart.. we might be able to get onto this next weekend.. will keep you posted.

Then we test fitted a centrifugal clutch to the engine shaft ..... shaft was 2mm too big to fit in the clutch ..wtf.

i had the same problem, the imported engines have mainly 20mm shafts not 3/4"(19.05mm), so i bought a 20mm clutch
