A bit about myself. My name's Josh and I'm a 26yo panel beater from Melbourne, Australia. I have always wanted to build a diy go kart, but didn't want anything too ghetto lol.
I picked up a Victa 160cc two stroke full crank for nothing
(not running of course). I pulled it down, resurfaced the head, cylinder block and crank case. Replaced all gaskets (made them myself). Honed the cylinder. Replaced the rings ($18). Cleaned and regapped the points. She started on three pulls of the cord. 
I also scored a basic kart frame for $80. Has wheels, steering, seat and scrub brakes.
I'll start a build thread in the next few days I think.
