On June 17t,h 2010 an EF4 tornado came through my area and destroyed 1/3rd of our small city.

One of the buildings happened to be the old highschool I graduated from.

I guess WDC (the school) entered into Pepsi's Refresh Project (a grant system.)

It'd be great if you could simply vote for the idea by going to the link above and clicking on "vote for this idea"

thanks.

wow gotta say bud that looks like a total waste of money. 50g's basicly for a back to school party, has nothing to do with the reconstruction of the building. no thanks

"How will the 50K be Used?
$ 15,000 Replace lost items for extracirricular activities
$ 10,000 DJ Equipment
$ 5,000 Back to School Bash
$ 5,000 Homecoming
$ 4,000 Replacement cameras, lap tops and video equipment
$ 2,000 Snow Week
$ 2,000 Replace spirit gear of students who lost homes
$ 5,000 Motivational Speakers
$ 2,000 Pride gear, Pep Fest materials"

Ummm... Walls would be a good start!
$10G for deejay stuff? $5G for a party? Another $5G for "Homecoming"? etc.
Sorry. For the amount of hours I'd have to put in to generate 50 large, I certainly wouldn't spend it that way.

50k can be used to rebuild the school that lasts 80 years, not to be wasted on a party that lasts one night.

The school itself has already been covered by insurance and other donations, its the normal items you would find inside your average school that need to be replaced.

Any "normal items" destroyed will be replaced by the insurance, too. I work for a restoration company that does nothing but insurance work, following disasters. Flood, fire, wind, B&E, acts of dog, whatever. The school will (or has) provide a list to their claims adjuster detailing anything lost, mangled etc, dollar values get assigned, everything factored in.

"$10,000 dj equipment" normal?

How 'bout a new home economics wing to focus on budgeting?

No offense but don't let schools brainwash you into thinking they're eternally broke. Ask your neighbors and businesses who don't have kids how much they pay in school taxes. Then show them how the $50G will be spent.

Are there any upgrades to the metal shop to build karts? No. :( Sorry, I'm not voting. That just seems wasteful.
