Yup, Exactly, some people are like sheep and follow each other just because of the filter companies hype and they want to believe something so bad that they step over the true facts not to mention the dirt ingestion that some of those things let pass through into the engine.

Yeah, now that we're in the age of computer flow simulations and 'biggest number' car shoppers, you're not going to get more power out of something that simple or else the big manufacturers would have already done it. Especially on vehicles that make peak torque on the low end of the rev range.

They are really nice to have on some bikes though since airboxes tend to be a huge pain in the *** to work around in a tight frame.

I use pod filters on my motorcycles sometimes because the airboxes are such a tight fit an a PITA to get in an out. not because they make me any more power. the cheap pod filters actually restrict airflow.

I would have to say difference is big enough to feel on my scooter changed the crappy airbox out and put a k&n filter in the airflow it has made it actually noticeable .
