Aren't all clutches bi-directional?

Okay on the 3hp Briggs on my mini bike I have a 5/8 shaft that I am running the clutch from the 2.8hp doodlebug engine on. i went to run it but the clutch one works when the sprocket is facing away from the block, whereas in my application I needed the sporcket facing the block. Anyway I wrecked the clutch trying to rig something up, but when I buy a new one aren't are clutches able to be turned and used with the sprocket facing towards the engine block?

Some clutches can be run, inboard or outboard some can not!!!!!! Read instruction's 1st. Ccw or cw....ccw only or cw only.....

You have to check the specs on each individual clutch. Some are bidirectional, some are unidirectional. If you have an unknown, you can tell by taking them apart.

Its a shame, but lots of online clutch ads dont give this very important information, but if they show a pic you can usually tell at a glance if a clutch Is bi-directional just by observing the size of the clutches center hole.

Like this first clutch is advertised as having a 1" bore size, so you can tell at a quick glance that it's small center hole design would never physically allow it to be installed with the drive gear facing inboard:

This clutch below is also advertised as a 1" bore model, but the pic very obviously shows this one could physically be installed inboard or out-board.

But if you were still unsure you could contact the seller asking, and/or google search that clutches model number, and try including the search terms bi-directional or inboard/outboard for additional info from several other sources including the manufacturer.

I just bought a hilliard one that operates both ways today, I put some loc tite in the bolt that holds it in place and should be ready to roll tommorow. Thanks for the help everyone.
