So my kids and nephew are asking me to get our kart running again, it has a new HF predator 212 engine that has been sitting now for little over a year, so I know I have to clean out the gas and carb.. if I get it running, im thinking of taking it a step further and doing some mods to it.. I found a site called ombwarehouse, which has a kit for the predator 212 motor that includes the following:

(1) angled air filter
(1) air filter adapter
(1) choke hold bracket
(1) heavy rubber gasket
(1) bored out emulsion tube
(1) long carburetor stud
(1) .036 jet
(1) .037 jet - try both and see which you like best!
(2) 18 lb valve springs - cannot be used with Hemi Head!
(1) 4 degree advanced timing key
(1) exhaust with screw on muffler

for $84 not bad if its really worth it.. the kart is mostly for the kids, but the adults will enjoy it also..

Looking for some feedback on these and if that site is a good source for mod parts?

thank you

If you get it, DON'T use the 18# springs unless you have a billet connecting rod......
None of that will do you any good if you don't free up your exhaust. What goes in, must come out.....
All of that stuff is not worth it just for a kids yard kart. You're better off just getting it running properly, as it is, it has plenty of power......
Oh, and welcome...... :welcome2:
EDIT there are many sites that have that type kit. Look around cause it might save you some bread...... (cash)
EDIT #2 I now see the exhaust on the list.......

So would going with the air filter and jets be worth it then? The kids are the ones that will get more use out of it, but if I make it faster, I think the adults will then be the ones getting more out of it..

So its either spend $41 or $84

What are some other good sources for parts? Ive already looked at the links found here
http://www.diygokarts.com/kart-parts/parts-sources.html

But none of them sell complete kits that are cheaper or close to the same price for what you get..

Also whats the purpose of the Top Plate/Throttle Station?

dont do springs, i dont know enough about timing though sorry.... but you gotta , remove governor, then do the direct throttle conversion

http://www.bmikarts.com/Throttle-Linkage-Kit-for-65HP-Clone-GX160-or-GX200-Engine_p_2554.html

after its all said and done, you will have to hold the gas down with choke on when you start the go kart becaue the governor (now removed) holds the throttle open upon start, and it wont start with the throttle closed.

Once I get it running again, ill be deciding on the mods, just want to see what if anything is worth the money to mod the motor for a bit more HP and sound..

Since it's "for the kids" ,why not save the bread. Just put a good exhaust (not muffler) so it sounds bad@$$ and then tweak the governor a little to get a couple more rpms. They will think they have a race ready kart, and you keep the bread, for samichez....... :lolgoku:

I agree with Jim, it depends on who is going to be riding it. If it is for adults also, than I would invest in removing the governor from the engine. If it is just or the kids, then the mods you selected are good to help the engine and sound.

I'm currently doing the same mods to one of my kids Karts. I'm removing the governor and decided that since the kids would also be using it too, and to protect the investment of the engine, I going to replaced the connecting rod and flywheel also. If you took care of it, the engine could probably be alright without out the extra mods, but with kids and other adults, I know the first thing they will do is mash the gas pedal to the floor. I know the motor can still break even with the extra parts, but I feel better with them (and the engine) in a safer setup.

Thanks for the lead on the website, the air filter kit ($24) is cheaper then some of the ones I have previously found. I'm going to build my own exhaust, and thought about building my own air intake but for that price I might as well buy it.

Wait up, the 18lb springs are fine if the governor is left intact; as soon as you remove the governor, then you have a problem...

Just do the intake, jets, and exhaust if it's just for the kids. It'll look bad *** and won't go too fast.
