are these bicycle brakes?

i know everyone says that bicycle brakes don't mix with mini bikes, but it looks like it worked for the person in the video.

I don't see any evidence in that video suggesting that those brakes functioned well.

Be safe and get a decent setup. (Also, those kids were pretty dumb welding in shorts & no gloves.)

Yes they are V-brakes for a bicycle, and NO, they are not sufficient for the purpose. It even looked like they only had front brakes...

Those welds didn't look too hot (literally) either. When they showed the triple trees, there was negligible penetration.

I'll give anyone credit for trying, especially the young 'uns- I just don't like seeing safety tossed by the wayside.

was he useing a stick welder?

i one shot he was welding from about 50cm back

regardless of brakes it still looked like a pretty good effot

but i wouldnt want somone to pull in front of me

V-brakes are actually quite good, at least for bikes. They'll lock up a tire with a tiny amount of pressure.

No argument there, I used 'em for years when I was heavy into mountain biking. I had a wicked Shimano set. But there's quite a bit of speed and weight involved with a minibike. I wouldn't, anyway.

i will mention that i find v brakes work very well on bicycles when adjusted perfectly, if they aren't perfect they cant do crap! i don't like the front brakes only idea, at all, you can slam on the bakes and crash, or not slam on the brakes and crash. you can buy a complete made in japan drum brake setup from bmi for 15 bucks......
