awsome build!! so many people are building this, i hope you'll put up a video when its done.

I'll post a video, if for no other reason than just to have a second Arachnid video on the internet! I've looked around, and the only video I've been able to find is the one from Spidercarts' site.

How much does the kart settle when you sit in it Austin?

With the yellow shocks, the front suspension settles to where the a-arms are about level with the ground. The rear swingarm is also about level with the ground. It feels like the slightest bump would bottom the shocks out at all corners. And it's SPRINGY! It feels like there's no damping at all in the shocks.

Don't know yet. I'm thinking expanded metal around the pedals, just to have a place for the heels to rest. I'm playing that one by ear, so we'll see!

I think .063 aluminum diamond step plate would look good!!! That's what I am going to use.

if u use that then u must paint it.
i put it in and it does look good but wait for the sun to be in the right place and then u will find why the super shiny suface isnt too good

edit
what is thaty abs sheet, what is it used on

Austin,

I started building my Arachnid last week. I have the main frame and suspension block done. I am working on my a arms now. I have a quick question for you, and I apologize for hijackin your build thread....i have 1/2" chromoly heim joints I want to use for the a arm joints. The spindles have a 5/8 bolt. Rather than buy new 5/8 heims, I was thinking of turning some bushings and using a 1/2 bolt in the spindle instead. Do you think this would work, or are the loads too much for 1/2 bolt there? Maybe theo or the machine can chime in....

Thanks,
Jim

I don't see why that wouldn't work, but it seems like more trouble than it's worth. The 5/8" heims weren't that expensive. If it were me, I would just buy the 5/8" heim joints instead of going to all that trouble to machine bushings, unless you're just looking for a lathe project.

Yep I agree. I had ordered the heims 15 mins after posting that. Common sense won this time. Gonna post my project in a build thread some time this week...

Can't wait to see yours in action!

Jim
