Folks,

After building a stretch recluse model with my nephew 3 years ago, we've decided to test our skills on the Arachnid. Been reading everything I can and seem to have a handle on all the issues others have run into, except for one:

I would like to make this strong enough for my brother in law to ride. He's 6' 6", pushing 330 lbs. Is the 1.25x1.25 tube strong enough? Should I consider going to a 1x2 or 1.5x2 box channel for the sub-frame instead?

Appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks!
Rick

It's better to use larger thin wall material than smaller thick wall material.

What do the plans recommend for maximum weight?

IMHO, I think fowler's idea is the best so far. For the main support structure, use 14ga 2.5" x 1.25" RHS (rectangular tube) & 1.25" x 1.25" for everything else which is mainly a cosmetic suppurt structure
