So as of last Friday I am convinced I need a dashcam, however getting one that will work in Texas summers is another thing. I did some research and saw that the capacitor models are better for high heat environments but wanted to reach out and see if anyone here in the southern states is using one and has good luck with it. I prefer one without a display and as small as possible. I see a lot of Chinese ones that are super cheap however those are probably very low quality. Let me know if you use one.

Thanks,
Dan

I use my GoPro in this capacity from time to time, I used an adhesive mount attached to the inside of the windshield, GoPro gives you so many adhesive mounts I figured why not. Plus you can use the camera for all other kinds of stuff, maybe look for a gently used, older generation on the Craigslist to save some scratch

I have a GoPro but what I do not like is that I have to start the recording every time I start to drive. I like the idea of the camera automatically recording as soon as the car starts and stops a few minutes after.

DFW drivers happened. Had a Suburban merge into my lane on loop 12N in the Irving area, and now the drivers side of my Mustang is pretty much a goner, couldn't even open the drivers door. Other drivers Insurance is saying they cannot determine liability even though he admitted it was his fault so now my insurance is having to pay, and I'm out a $500 deductible and 3-4 weeks in a rental that is not my Mustang. I figured if I had a dash cam running this would be a open and shut case.

oh yeah ML is right, GoPro has a function you can set to start recording the moment it is turned on, maybe even when it is connected to power too, so it would start recording within moments of you turning on the ignition
