Thinking of putting one on my small 3 wheeler that has a 212 on it. Looks like they are only 3/4 inch shaft, im already thinking my 420 jackshaft is 3/4 lol but i dont know the hp ratings yet.

Well according to their news stuff, one was used on a 50hp snowmobile engine and survived after some upgrading. I don't remember anyone trying one, but a couple have asked on here. At about 200 clams for it with everything, it's not one many have tried yet.

Yeah i did a search but that feature isnt working on my pc right now for whatever reason.

Looks like they are working on one for a 1" shaft so considering an import 40 series is $150 or so.....

I might splurge on one this spring looks like one of those things im just gonna have to have lol.

They hold up to a snowmobile because they produce all there power way up in the rpm range. Joel had bought an upgraded one for his 30hp 420 he sold the motor and clutch to another guy before really testing it. But the new guy that bought it from him said the clutch couldn't hold the power so he sold it for a 4 puck

Anyone try 3d motorsports manual clutch?

You'd have my firm and moral support to be the first one here to try it. :p

Mikey didn't like Life cereal until he tried it. You never know.

Take one for the team! :wai:

Id be using it on a mostly stock 212. I have a hard time seeing it beat a tav30 'off the line' as they claim, especially with a heavier rider like me because you wouldnt get the benefit of different gear ratios. That would be my concern. Probably just wouldnt know till you try. I seen redbeard using one, he certainly wasnt doing burnouts lol.

Now if they make one for 1" to handle a mild 420 then you wouldnt have to use a jackshaft and that might be worth trying.

And to be fair, a 40 series would also get smoked by a 30hp 420. Hopefully the upgrade didnt cost a fortune.

I took one for the team..... bought the OG...MK1 DBR1 manual clutch...
It didnt work super great... and being up here in Canada.... it cost as much as a 3 plate racing clutch..... which I should have bought instead....

I was expecting someone to say that. Kinda was hoping someone already had. Sure would make a slick dual engine setup with each having a different ratio. Small fortune but its only time and money surely were all gonna live forever.

Ouch. Sorry. Thanks though thats what i was looking for.

Years ago i ran twin macs with direct drive now that was a trip. When it was running that is, way too much hassle but then it was a racing machine.

Have they lowered the prices? I just checked and saw the base prices were lower than what I thought.

Of course. I'm the devil's advocate and I ask why it isn't the enquirer that takes the risk.

I do have a minibike that is waiting in the wings that could be my test bed for this. I don't find these all that expensive at $129.00 for my particular application. That's pretty low.

I'd expect it to be $399.99 or some such to even 'get into the game'.

I dont think $129 is bad either and id be more willing to try it on a minibike. My lightweight 3 wheeler has a 40+ year old comet on it thats acting up. Sure could probably rebuild it but it would also be a good candidate I think.

Seek out 'RedBeardsGarage' on youtube. He installed one on a go kart and it worked. Just not my cup of tea. I can smell burnt clutch plates already.......

Yep, I just can't see how they work if it isn't a 'wet clutch'! Those plates are going to get hot and the sooner they are engaged the better. I just can't see it. Maybe on a light weight 3 wheeler it will be fine though.

I forget the username but, one of the designers was an active member here during the build process, not to mention one or two other members bought one; have you tried searching the forum?

Yes, i couldnt get the search feature to work on this device whatever reason. Also, seen redbeards vid. Id rather have a tq if i cant rev it and dump it and burn rubber its of no use to me lol, not on a kart anyhow. Redbeard couldnt and im similar in weight so id only consider it on my featherweight 3 wheeler or minibike.

I forget, did Redbeard have Lonnie try dumping the clutch? He's a scrawning dude of about a buck forty soaking wet so I bet someone lighter could burn rubber.

Joe-405 said he didn't like the manual clutches because they were either Fully ON or Fully OFF. No in-between - No slipping. IIRC He said they would burn up if using on a yardkart or pitbike.

That also depends on gearing...
