This is on he the drive shaft, it's rusted so bad. I cannot get it off to remove the case. So much rust.

Also, is there a way to identify a B&S engine? This particular one came on my yard kart. Looking o do a rebuild.

that's the baseplate of a cent clutch (looks like a max torque to me)..
check the back side.. there are two grubscrews on there.. maybe they're still tightened.
remove them, spray with pb blaster and wait.. it'll come off eventually.

Yes, the serial number (or more precise the model number)
punch that into the briggs and stratton website and they'll provide you with the enigne details.

from the crankcase cover I'd say it's an intek... but ask B&S to be sure ;)

If that's an Intek Briggs and it looks like it is, the serial number (Model, Type and Code character strings) will be found on the valve cover.

If the Set screws are removed, id use some heat to remove it....... less time waiting and typically itll just slide off....

Or cut it off.....

what doesn't make sense?

it's a 120412 ([12] 12cui displacement, [0]basic design, [4]horizontal shaft, [1]plain bearings flange mount. [2]rewind starter engine) manufactired on 02-08-28 (Y-M-D)

type 0043 (crankshaft, carb, governed speed, oem where applicable and color/decals etc... nothing to care about)
just find a 120412 manual and you'll be set... apart from color and decal specific everything will be covered, including all different carbs etc.. just compare with what's on your engine ;)

I figured out the parts finder, just wondering how you know if it's an Intek or not?

---------- Post added at 08:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------

It may just be the picture....but it looks like the PTO is bent. Have you rolled it over and checked?

It doesn't roll over. It's pretty locked up.

Again, it may be just the pic, but is it possible to fry a clutch plate to the shaft?
The whole thing looks warped and overheated.

I think you are not realizing there is a Bronze bushing on there. Hence the Discoloration looking even more Overheated.

There is actually a set screw that has been rusted pretty bad. I tried removing it and ended up stripping the socket head. Attempted drilling it out some last night, but my drill wasn't powerful enough. I need to take it out to the shop to get moar power. Hopefully when the set screw comes out it'll slide off and I can give some better answers. I can't tell if it's bent or not.

it'll be straight..
I see that too; but I call it fisheyeing of the camera lens for now (since that's most likely)

Looks like it's the 206cc :-( Just looking at ARC's website, seems they don't offer much for that engine.

Well, ARC isn't the be-all and end-all of hop-up part makers.

I say you should be looking at whether this OHV Briggs (Intek or no, who knows?) is in any way analogous to the Briggs Animal racing engine. Might be the same block and parts might interchange.
EDIT: the Animal is 206cc.

I think Intek is just the name Briggs came up with for their OHV engines--they kind of revolutionized themselves after making flathead engines for so long...

EDIT: The Intek engines as far as I have been able to tell, have full pressure oil lubrication and have spin-on oil filters. They seem to be for lawnmowers--vertical shafts.

you should try one of those lubricants that eat away the rust i would have to look for it to find out the name of it i used it on my chain of my go kart and i could move it just fine.
