Anyone heard of a vintage fwd kart?

I've only seen the red tank of kart in my search for any vintage fwd kart information on the web. Not much out there on this subject. Might not be practical for fwd karts but still an interesting oddity.

I have my eyes on one that looks factory bones with some home brew and repairs. Has anyone ever heard of something like that?

It is fwd with rear disc brakes and suspension. Don't know who's is the red one and just found the picture on the web.

I have seen a picture of the red one before on this very site years ago. Many years ago. No one knew anything about it and believed it was a one off. It would be tough but I think it could be a valuable piece to restore and build. Maybe even reverse engineer and build a few copies.

Several differences from the red one. I would have to say 2 different manufacturers. I believe front wheel drive was experimented with in the 60s for racing. The results of those experiments I have no idea. Looks pretty complete other than the front axle/diff drive system.

Yes, totally different karts and the red one was just the only vintage example of a fwd kart I found on the web.

The gear box is laying on the seat and has a disc for front brake system.

That may be a Margay racing kart! If it is it may be quite valuable! They could not have made very many. It may be one of a very few left in the whole wide world. You may have just hit the lottery. You did buy it right?

At that price for that kart I don’t think I even would have argued with him. I’d have happily paid the man!

Another vintage ride! You must live in the land of milk and honey. You would have to ask Anderkart about that one though. He used to race and is very knowledgeable about racing karts. I don’t think I’d run it, I’d have to slap an engine on it and hang it on my living room wall!

If he puts back for sale I'll try. He put sold about a week ago but then put it back on a couple days ago then sold again. We'll see.
