hey you can guess by my avatar im into the famous six cylinder mercs aka tower of power. these motors are notoriuosly fast due to their effiecient gearing in the lower unit. the one on my avatar is a 1962 merc 700. 70 hp six. they were also nick named "the dock buster" because some models were direct drive which meant they must be started in forward or reverse so when you start it it moved. no neutral. if ya wanna stop, kill the motor. also my name mister twister refers to the 150hp "twister" racing engine version. if you have any cool or fast outboards feel free to post pictures or videos or just say what you have

were also considering putting one on a 10 ft hydroplane :devil2:

My dad's boat has a Johnson 115hp Sea Runner on it. (17' Boston Whaler) It works great, despite all of our *****ing about how great an e-tec would be. It's the same as the ones in this picture, except in WAY better condition. (Sorry, the only picture I could find)

Hey- Last year I picked up a "newer" version of one. I got a 1985 (IIRC) 90hp Merc. The boat is an '82 Glastron SSV-151. It's a 15' Ski boat, bowrider- but I will be converting it for fishing duty. Sort of a poor-man's Bass boat. The front seating is already torn out. Going in is a platform with seat pedestal and trolling motor, with a storage locker and live well underneath. I have been researching how to build my own live well- I guess I need to go visit DIY Bass Boats forum, LOL.

I've torn out all the seating and am reassigning that, too. I was hoping to have it in the water this summer, but have been far too busy- he//, my go karts has been in pieces since May. *sniff*.
I also have a '58 Johnson Seahorse 35hp that needs some work, but I had it running in a barrel a coupla years back.

grandpa used to have a 90 ( i think) V6 evinrude 2 stroke on a 20ish foot long sport boat.

sold it cause it costed too much at the marina... and we didnt use it that much. gas was at least $100 every time we took it out too.

so we rented a 25ish foot long sport boat with a 200 HP yamaha 2 stroke....

once when i was trying to park it in the slip... after alot of tries i couldnt get it. so the gas station guy jumped in and took over.

as a showoff, he put that 200HP to FULL throttle in the crammed marina. WOW it roared haha. then he had to hit full throttle in reverse to stop the momentum.

we see boats come in with triple 250 HP engines on the back. wow. burn a little gas?

haha idiot fo' sho. but he had MAD SKILLZ.

this is the boat. in the pic the engine was doing around 3500rpm or so. had to keep it around 25mph or else the rough water would send us on a... rough ride. most i got the thing up to in choppy water was around 5,500rpm or somehting like that. i think it did around 6k at full but im not sure....... didnt look at the tach..... i was hanging on!

Don't have a Merc, have owned a couple Evinrude's over the years.Had a 1973 40hp on an old 1969 super V aluminum hull, that was a tank and would run no matter what you did to it. Currently going over plans and looking into building a Jet Jon.There are a couple out there with twins, but how about one with triple Rotax's.

I've had a few boat. My first was a 16ft sea ray with an 80hp merc. Then I hit a half sunken log on the Mississippi and almost sunk it. The transom was so damaged I sold it. I went a few years without a boat and picked up a 18ft pontoon. It wont win any races but its great for the kids and fishing.

On vacation this summer in Minocqua WI we went to see a ski show and watched this boat.

I took a video of it but wasn't this good. He trimmed the engines up and sprayed across the stands. The boat has twin 150hp after the wheelie he let it come down and then punched it and the boat jumped out of the water. Man could he drive that boat.
