Anybody ever put limiter in CVT driven?

Has anybody ever put a solid spacer in place of the spring in a 30 series driven in an attempt to intentionally limit the top speed/gear ratio for younger riders? It seems that if I can stop the pulley from expanding or writing up the cam I should be able to keep it in that lower ( approximately 2.5-3.0:1) ratio.

Are there any adverse effects?

I've seen it done with a spacer ring on the primary clutch. My Monster Moto MB212 mini bike came with a spacer ring in the primary clutch which I think they did it to keep the CVT from going into overdrive ratio thus lowering the top speed.

So there was a spacer on the engine pulley instead of the driven?

got a pic?

Yes, it was on the engine or drive pulley. It was designed to keep the drive pulley from completely closing and not going in to an overdrive ratio.
