So Im still searching for kart rolllers out there on CL and it seems like all the karts have are only capable of running a 2 Cycle. One of the guys on here recommended a jackshaft or something like that so I can mount a 4 Cycle, are there any cheap jackshafts out there like on eBay or something? Also if not are there any good 2 Cycles out there that require low maintenance?? I heard the KT100 was a good one.
Any good 2 Cycles Engines???

the kt100 is good but i think its direct drive, how about a YZ125?
i dont see why one kart would be for 2 stroke only. you would have to get a different engine mount, but other than that you could go get a $100 predator engine from harbor freight and run that.

My budget is pretty tight right now. I really want to get a Briggs world formula and slap it on but i need one of these https://id3528.securedata.net/test....roduct_info.php?cPath=103_105&products_id=372 because one of the experienced kart guys on here said some of the karts don't have enough sprocket clearance therefore preventing me from putting a 4 cycle on there.
I heard 2 strokes just require too much maintenance.... and like it needs to be rebuilt and stuff.

Lots less to go wrong on a two smoker. I think they are less maintenance but that just me.
Hmmmm.. do you do a lot of back yard stuff with your kart or do you take it to tracks??

Andy, it would be most helpful if you gave us an idea what you're trying to accomplish. Are you going to try to get into pro/semipro racing? Goofing off in parking lots? Tearing up your backyard?
I just want something to ride around the neighborhood.

trust me rebuilding a 2 stroke is way easier

thats just the disadvantage of running close to the edge
but just a straight bike engine will last for a long while
u can up the oil fuel mixture to give better lubrication but at the cost of spark plugs
2 strokes have a better power to wieght ratio
also 2 strokes usually rev much higher

So like a yz85??? But dont you need to manually shift on these engines?

By the sounds of it, you really do need to get yourself a Briggs and Stratton, Honda, Tecumseh, clone, etc...

Lots of racekart frames have straight rear cross-members so you could easily instal any 2 or 4-cycle engine you want, you just need to keep shopping to find one.
We might be able to help you find a good used racekart for sale in your area, we'd just need to know your approx location.

You could also try emailing all the board of directors listed on that site. I'll bet one of them has (or knows of) some older racekarts for sale.
