Russ' DuraForce motor is rated stock at 6hp.... probably wouldn't take much to eeek it out to 8hp. He's almost ready to mount it on his kart- should be very interesting. If oyu've seen his previous videos, he was getting the smaller engines up to 50mph or so. (I forget the exacts). Is it one of those heavy karts, or a small one?
One of my friends currently has a semi-large 2 seat kart powered by a HF 6.5 hp and Torq-a-verter. It does okay, but he wants more. The GX340 is tempting, except for having to totally rework the torque-converter set up. I think we'll all be watching how Russ does and then snap up every last DuraForce motor if it goes well!

My kart doesn't have much room on the engine mount.. it's a side mount.
I'd love to get my hands on one of those duraforces.

That's what I wanted to avoid.. I would do that if I could get a good deal on a gx200 honda.. (my friend got a gx160 with a few hours of use on it for 37 dollars at a private auction).. I don't want to use a clone unless I can be convinced otherwise.

I want a 2 stroke for the rpm.

Or, of course (sounding like a broken record) a small air cooled snow motor? Even the 1 cylinders are good for 18hp @ 6000 reliable rpm, stock. Or, maybe even an airplane engine or 3.... right, Ironman!?!?

I hear you, Ironman. To me, the easiest motor to deal with is the BlueTerror.... smooth, dependable, and able to make any project, no matter how poorly engineered, perform well.
Russ kinda touched on an important point when he was discussing all of his old snowmobile parts.... all that extra power kinda forces you to rethink the whole project. I have nothing right now that can handle my Sachs motor (and it's on the low end, by snowmobile standards.), and those gems that Ironman has.... God help us when he gets them things hooked up to the rear wheels of something! Of course where there's a will......
I get the feeling the videos are going to get a bit more thrilling to watch.
