Craigslits rocks! Found these two frames posted on the site the other day: white one for $20, and the red for $40. Called the guy and offered $50 and he took the offer.
This is the condition they came home in. So far I can make one good rolling kart out of parts from each. The white frame was in the best shape and the red frame had all four aluminum wheels undamaged. Luckily all the axles are 5/8" so the wheels interchange no problem. Each came with band brakes, but the white one is missing its drive wheel. Looks like they used a few parts from the white to get the red one moving again at some point. Of course, motors on each are shot, tires are no good and the bearings are junk. And the steering linkage is home made: instead of two tie rods and four ends, its two tie rods welded to a plate attached to the steering wheel, then an end on each spindle. Yuck! Steering flops like crazy this way.
I got the white one done up. All I really need to get it moving is engine, clutch, throttle cable, and tires. I hope the tubes are still good like the Manco two seater I picked up in June.
The red one has a straight-through split in the frame right where the seat back attaches. I'm gonna keep it for a while in case I decide to fix it up for the wife or maybe another kart for myself. Who knows!! Great find for $50!!
Also...6.5hp or 11hp??
