So, spent most of my time trying to rig a clutch and throttle cable, with no luck. Fishing line is too stretchy for throttle and i dont have a long enough cable for the clutch. Anyways, i started it up, let it warm up, and after about 5 minutes of idling and adjusting the carb it died and lost spark. I have no clue why, anyone have any ideas? The points are clean, but the gap is probably a little too big since i had to take a decent amount of corrosion off, no clue if coil is ok, but it wasnt getting hot or anything.

I'm thinking it may be condenser, but i need to replace the points first. The piece of spring steel actually snapped while taking the points off, and it wasnt very springy anymore, so i'll replace that and see how it runs. I tested resistance on the coil and all seems well. If it is the condenser, could i just rig one up from an old kohler or something that has points?

After getting a new set of points you could wire the points up to a battery ~ car coil to test if it was the coil/condenser was causing the problems.

I might have to do that, i really hope its not the coil. I dont feel like putting more into this bike...
The shifter kart is at a stand still also, coil is shot on that i believe. I'll be setting up the steering rack soon and get some pictures of that.

Alright so i ordered new points, installed and gapped them and she runs great. Rigged up a tank and fishing line throttle cable and rode her a bit, Shes got great power for an 80 enduro. The fishing line is too stretchy so i need to find something better, but other than that im pretty psyched. heres a vid, filmer sucks, sorry.

Heres a quick walkaround the next day after i JB welded the gas tank up real good, and set up clutch, and throttle linkage. Home made gas cap is shown in there too...basically a bolt welded to a piece of steel rod, a nut, and an old motor mount from a golf kart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RGXbPidj2g

so, a little update on the beast. I've been trailriding 3 or 4 times, first was a 7 hour long ride and i had no trouble at all, ran great the whole time, second time i took a break and it wouldnt start back up (i think the float stuck open and flooded it), but it started up the next day. Third ride i got a flat, no surprise since the tube had 3 or 4 patches already, i road it home on the rim, prolly 10 miles. Tire was already shot anyways so i need a new tire and tube.
But other than those two little things shes taken the abuse great, and it is some serious abuse, i'm talkin rocky trails up huge hills, lots of wide open, i cant tell you how many times i've had it completely topped out in 5th tryin to keep up with a CR125. She has decent power, i think if i did a top end it would help, but im not gonna. Probably tops at about 50, but its very steady, and pulls pretty good.
So thats about it for this thing, i also re-painted it flat black and red. I'll get some pictures once its back at my house.

Yeah, unless someone gives me like $500 i aint selling this either, these old bikes are great, they really take the abuse. plus there so simple to work on, no radiators or CDI's. I'm actually thinking about gearing this thing up a little and making it road legal. She'll do about 50 as is, which is really all i need, but thats pinned so if i go up a tooth or two in the front that would fix my problem.
