Hello all,

I've been gaining much knowledge reading these forums and I appreciate all the information that you guys provide.

I'm one of those dads that never had a gokart but always wanted one as a kid so I used my kids as an excuse to get one. I picked up a rolling Manco fox Pro 2 rolling chasis with no motor

And with all the information from this site, I turned that turd into this:

I just finished most of it this weekend with the exception of the seat belts which i'm currently waiting to get in. It now has a 16HP motor with the series 40 clutch. 12t to 54t sprockets and 22" tires in the back. With me (260lbs) and one of my boys (100lbs) we got the kart up to 31mph by the time we ran out of road. Not too bad. I'm currently trying to figure out how to get more out of her. I installed a custom intake and am currently contemplating a nice header but I know its probably all in the gearing.

Well anyway, that's a little about me and my project. Again, just wanted to say HI....

Regards,

Keith

Great job. I am glad we could help out. Like you say, it is in the gearing. There will always be a bit of a trade off though with speed and torque. What is the torque like on your kart?

I guess it seems ok, but I have nothing to compare it to. I have to first figure out what chain i'm running and then i'll pick up a bunch of different sprockets for the jackshaft to play around with.
