I picked this one up today because I was watching this type of kart on YouTube and was amazed at the speed. I think my kids would have lots of fun with this type of kart also.

Does anyone know the make of this kart? It has a GX-200 Honda 6.5Hp engine.

I know I just can't help it! I really need to start back on finishing the first one I got.

I got this kart for 300 and it came with a extra engine and a whole fiberglass front clip. I didn't know how much these go for but he tested it out for me and holy cow he was doing 45 down the street and the Honda engine sounded awesome. I have to admit I got in this one and took a ride around my house to the back shop. LOL it was a short fun trip. I might have to drop my young one off at my mothers tomorrow and fire it up and see what it can do.

I almost picked up a adult size kart also but it had way to much rust. I was thinking about buying me a new one for a Xmas gift from the kids to me.

This is the one that had to much rust,

Although we like pics, we'd rather see pics of what you do have over pics of what you don't have :D

That doesn't look too bad; is all the rust on the other side?

Ya it don't look that bad until you see it in person.

I have a question: When I took it for a spin around the house I notice the brakes were not working well. It has a drum brake, I would like to use this disk brake now does that work by pulling the master cylinder or do you have to push it?

Those ebay brake parts have an amazingly low-price! But this price makes me seriously doubt their quality. They might work out just fine for you, but I'd citainly be a little leery about trusting my life to those components... The Chinese manufactured Quads/Motorcycles (those components are made to fit) are very-well known to have constant problems with poor design features and serious quality control issues.

_______

Your kart appears to have enough room to instal that ebay master cylinder in front of the brake pedal. (so it would be pushing like that master cylinder most-likely requires)

But the brake pedal typically pulls the master cylinder on racekarts like yours that were equipped with factory hydraulic brakes. They use a linkage rod and/or, just a cable like this pic shows:

Racekart master cylinders have a built-in pivot feature:

I agree with everything you said. I only considered this unit because of this video on YouTube. The guy (T-Man) sounds like he knows what he's talking about. For sure he knows more then I!

Take a look at the video and let me know? My kids will be driving this at low speeds of around 20mph. Nothing really hard on the kart. I think it would work fine for my needs but you guys know way more then me and I really take everything y'all say as solid advise.

On another note, I was taking the kart apart this morning and everything was loose, bolts on wheel, spark plug, engine mount, carb, front bar and more. I was thinking it was due to vibration but if you have that much I think he should have used lock-tight. What lock-tight should be used on a kart like this?

I seen this video somewhere on this forum.

T Man is awesome, he really knows his stuff... As I said earlier, that brake system looks like the real deal. the biggest problem I see is finding a hub to mount the disc (as T Man said).

As for the master setup: The master in the pics anderkart posted is, technically, a push unit but, because of the way it's made, it uses a pull system. If you remove the actuator bar, it becomes a push unit. You can easily turn any push type master into a pull type by applying the same principle & creating a pivot point; it's really easy to do...

I used blue loktite, it seems to be doing ok...

@Fabroman

Thanks for all the helpful info.

I wasn't sure about the push/pull because in the eBay ad you can see that the push rod is bent so I really didn't know. I was looking at some of T-man other videos and he shows that it is a push type plus you told me also. Thanks

I have a CNC machine and I can cut, bend, melt, twist and do anything one can do with metal so I'm sure I can fabricate some brackets for that disk brake.

I'm still very new to karts so can you please tell me if one or two disk brakes on that racing kart would work? Oh and at first I thought it was coming from China but I looked again and they are shipped from CA (YES) I don't have to wait for a month.

Then blue loktite will be on every bolt on that kart. Thanks again.

I found it for cheaper $40 onsale here

The pushrod isn't actually bent, if you look closely, there's a pivot on the end (no idea why they did that:worried2:)

35% cheaper for the same unit, awesome

The only time you really need twin setups is when there's a diff in the middle. On your kart, one should be more than adequate

You have a CNC machine? You lucky dawg :drool5:

I got my disk brake installed on this cart with that $48 dollar disk brake set from eBay.

I had that sprocket that I had to hammer off my first kart. I cut of the collar part and welded it to the new disk. Worked out great.

I fabricated some steel plate to mount the rest of the gear.

Thanks!

Sorry about the crappy paint job, I do that because down here in south Texas if you have bare metal you have rust in 2 hours. LOL Once I get the kart done I will strip it down and powder coat the whole thing.

I will finish up the front part of the brakes today and post pictures. I was thinking I'm going to order 2 more of these kits and like everything else you buy now - the parts will become extinct so I better order more replacement pads. I off to the store to buy a box/kit of cotter pins. (you did notice the nail)
