Not everyone here speaks with a Southern Drawl. Wanted to make sure everyone is getting the full cultural experience.

So you've spent all this time and money upgrading your welder. Wrote up a whole welder mod thread and haven't even posted any pics of its performance after the mods????? How's the thing work now?

Not 100% on the alt bracket yet, so I don't want to do that.

I'll do the exhaust in the morning.
I might just do a series of spots welds instead of trying to run a bead.

I'll look for some scrap to test on, but my welding was terrible before so guessing it is still going to be terrible. Hoping it is only bad now.

I did notice while messing around the first time that I was discharging the capacitor through the gun/wire while positioning for the next weld. Sticking the wire to the work. I might have to ground the wire in-between welds and cut it off near the nozzle.

sounds like the capacitor is not draining fast enough. holding a charge.

didn't you add a fan or resistor to it?

I did. Just a fan. No resistor. I calculated it would take around 30 seconds to drain to 1 volt (IIRC). I guess I should have made it faster. I didn't really think about the functionality. I was just thinking about when tuning the welder off I suppose. I can add a resistor, but was trying to avoid wasting the energy.

The fan probably shuts off at 12V. Then what? It still drains the cap?

For 28V to 1V in 5 seconds would be 15 ohms, 52 watts, 1.86 amps.
