Another go kart project completed...

I've finished another kart, it's another Fantic Broncco TX5. Except for the engine, it has all original and NOS parts.

On this one, I wanted to try out an engine that I've had sitting on a shelf for over a year... a Champion 163cc engine 6hp... just because I liked the looks of the yellow engine with the florescent lime green color of the go kart.

BUT... after experiencing the power of a Stage 1 upgrade on a 212cc Hemi Predator like I have on my florescent yellow Fantic TX5, I think I may go with my original plan of making them twins. I have another Stage 1 212cc Hemi Predator ready to go.

Thank you... it was a real challenge to get the rear axle, sprocket and disc brake assembly all dialed in correctly. It's a unique setup and hard to explain, but I worked on that aspect of the restoration for days. Maybe one day, with the next one, I'll document, with photos and video the entire process.

The original disc brake setup was an ordeal too... I found some similar brake pucks online that I had to shave down the width and thickness to fit.

These are rare karts, but I'm pretty sure the other kart that I got with this package deal is even more rare... it's a twin engine version. No one seems to know much about the Fantic Broncco TX5 karts... so I may end up being an "expert" on them.

Love it - the green is really nice with the black. I'm about to tackle a similar project of a rebuild - the old kart looks very similar to what you started with there!

For me, color contrasts and attention to detail are important. I know the colors I choose aren't always original to the kart, but they do make it pop. This kart is rather tame compaired to my other Fantic TX5 kart... but it's all original and NOS but for the engine, cables and tires. BUT, I do have the original Pirelli tires saved.

Good luck with your rebuild... hope you post some pics.

The attention to detail is indeed really good. I especially like the use of all new and unscarred or rusted hardware throughout. That's a thing that hurts a lot of restos of all kinds of different stuff.
BTW: Pitman arm's right side tierod end has its jam nut loose.

Talk about attention to detail... THANKS, I totally missed that.

What bugs me with some socalled "restos" is when they paint everything one color and don't remove any of the pieces in the process. You seldom get back what you've stuck into a redo, but the self-satisfaction is sooooo rewarding.

I was just informed by the guy I bought these karts from, that the second motor mount was added by the previous owner... so, it's no more rare than the other Fantic TX5's. Since it's missing many of the original parts, I plan on turning it into something more in the rat rod kart theme.

Well...

I did end up going with my original plan afterall...to install my other stage1 Predator 212 hemi to match the engine I have on my yellow kart.

Tomorrow I take it over to my sister's 20 acres to see how the green and the yellow compare. I don't remember which one has the larger sprocket on the rear. so it should be interesting.

You have 4 cameras? Nice. I posted that for my first video effort with a GoPro generic I chose the free OpenShot Video Editor for my editing software, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. What do you use for editing software? I'm not married to any of it and free to use something better, as long as the learning curve isn't too steep to keep me interested.

I have 2 GoPro cameras, but one isn't working, and a brand new generic AKASO Pro action camera that I'll be using for the first time. It's pretty much a GoPro clone. Then my 2 regular cameras just to have there just in case. I'll have one on a head mount and maybe the other one on the kart mount that I made for the yellow kart. I'm anxious to try out the new camera beause it has a remote you wear like a watch to turn the camera on and off. The GoPro Hero4 has a wristband monitor that works through wifi so someone else can control the video.

I think I may have mentioned before that the video editing programs that I've been trying to use are total CRAP and I just cannot figure them out. I'm going to give yours a try.

I have that wrist remote for photo or video on/off with my Campark 4K. If you can't see the camera when you hit the buttons, you won't really be certain it turned on/off, like with mine mounted behind my head. Probably wouldn't get it wrong, guess I'm just a worrywart.
Once you learn the basics (easy learning curve) of the free "OpenShot", you'll want to add the free "Blender" animation software they recommend for making really cool and professional-looking videos. Links to both below...............

For me, learning and remembering all of the various functions on multiple and different cameras can be a challenge. It should be interesting for sure.

We had rain this morning, so I don't know what condition the grass will be in. I'm running slicks on the lime green kart and knobbies on the yellow kart. Oh boy...

I really want to learn video editting because I have a few ideas I'd like to try. I'll need to download these programs to my laptop since it has Windows 10 and my computer is still running Windows XP.

Just called my sister and she says there's standing water in any low spots... I'm going anyway.

Well, the day was a bust and I'm bummed out. Water puddles weren't the problem, the way both engines were running was.

And then there was the camera situation... I guess I'll have to break down and read the dayum instructions and go over the settings.
