Hello! I know alot of these have probably made in the past but heres another one. I have all the tools to be able to build a go kart but not any idea with the plans or parts. All I want to build is something that has go kart racing style wheels, 2 seats big enough for 2 adults, and the ability to put a cr500 engine on it. I don't want an offroad go kart, I want it to be more of a racing style kart. Thank you!

Start digging is the best suggestion. Once I think I came up with a new question or design some grease monkey on here has already done it. . . Takes some time but you should be able to find what you need here... pics when you can. It feeds these forum animals.

I haven't really seen a 2 seat racing kart before, but I'm sure it can be done. The CR500 racing kart has been done many times.

Well I have seen the 2 seat karts they have at go kart track, but those aren't big enough for two adults most likely.

Then we make it wider!

:iagree: This is actually something new & different, you've piqued my interest...

In my experience, almost all race karts with large sports bike engines need to be stretched (in length) to accommodate such an engine, throwing out the wheelbase:track ratio so, stretching the width to accommodate a passenger will restore the wheelbase:track ratio... which will make for a rather large kart but, with that much power, that shouldn't be an issue...

The first thing you need to do is map out the basic frame size: how wide does it need to be, how long does it need to be? Do you have an engine yet? That will help with this process...

So, the first things on the parts list are engine & seats...

From there, we can help with the details of the design...

Already ahead of ya :) Designed the rough draft last night. It needs to be about 7 1/2 feet in length and 45 inches wide to accommodate a seat big enough for 2 big people. I'm going to duplicate it in skectchup as best as I can.

WOW! That's a long kart; either you'll need a super long rear axle or the axles will be a long way inboard from the front & rear of the frame to achieve a reasonable W:T ratio...

The front is easy; footrests & pedals can overhang the front axle but, the rear axle needs to be far enough back to keep the engine in front of the axle (for balance); start looking for ways to shorten the length...
