Scored this older Baja for a cool hunnert off the local Craigslist! She'll need a new front brake reservoir or entire new master cylinder, plastics, a seat, throttle grip, tires, and tubes that I know of for now. The seller was super nice so I trust what he said about it running while in his possession. I'm not scared, I'm going to order parts tonight and I'll let ya'll know how it goes!

Chinese all day, it is an extremely similar motor if not the same, since I'll be waiting on parts for this one I might just borrow the carb and try in the ATV...

acquiring extra parts is no joke, I couldn't help myself, I'm like "why am I at the computer when I have a new toy/project in the back yard?" I decided to go out there and just test for spark-none. so first I tried a different coil- no spark, then grabbed a spare 4-pin CDI and wahlah! spark! I'm really glad I just ordered spare CDIs, should've gotten some spare coils on that note too

the carb is pretty gummed up, got it mostly clean but it might need a lemon juice boil, dunno if it's recoverable since there is a little physical damage to it, should've ordered 2 on that last order...

admittedly I used recycled lemon juice from another boil, a lot of grime rose to the surface but there was some gray "mud" at the bottom of the pot which seems to be the residue on the carb, I guess I'll try again with fresh juice and maybe a longer boil

Ya that might have been the case..
Dollar stores typically have large bottles for cheap.
It's also great for drinking on a hot day too, mixing up a jug of Lemon drink..

Mmmm lemony fresh...

Wait you guys boil lemon juice and let the carb sit in it??? That is possibly the most ingenoius thing I have ever heard about. I wonder why I didn't think about it:lolgoku:.

Next time my carb needs to be cleaned I will try that. I am guessing afterward you rinse the carb thoroughly with gas? BTW I am pretty new.

Thoroughly wash parts with hot water. Then let dry.

Now keep that pot only for garage work, don't leave in kitchen for the misses to find.

I literally just bought that at Goodwill for it's vertical profile, it's not the most efficient vessel by any means as the tapered shape does not conduct heat very well. I didn't wash the parts with hot water, I let the pot cool down then I hit with straight carb cleaner. The components came out much better than before, time will tell if this is a success.
