Ok I've had the arachnid plans for about a year now. Ive looked at many threads on this site on aracnid builds that never seem to get finished. So before I start on what seems like a doable project, I'd like to know why do these builds fail? Ive got great info from the threads but dont recall seeing
one finished. Is the problem most try to make design changes beyond their mathematical capabilities? It seems to me to be a good basic design for beginners like me to fabricate a basic kart. Thanks for viewing my ramble :horse:

Idk what threads you're talking about, but I'm sure I could find them if I looked. Did they not say why they, "failed?" If not, it's most likely that:
  1. The person lost their motivation and stopped
  2. The person didn't have the money to continue
  3. The person did finish but never posted
  4. Life got in the way

Those are really the key factors (IMO) to why build threads don't get finished.

Do you happen to mean the SpiderCart Arachnid Go Kart? I myself have the BlackWidow Go Kart plans. Something I may build in the later days of my life.

Can't wait to see your progress!

Thanks. I didnt know if the plans were screwed because the builds seem to peter out in the suspension phase. Yeah I bought the bundle with all the plans. I want to add a roll cage/ brush guard. Widen and lengthen the frame a bit. I'm just going to stick to the original specs other then that.

... Other than that? Widening & lengthening a frame may sound easy enough but, mess up one calculation &/or measurement & you could mess up the entire build.

Yes, I said "calculation" because it's not as easy as simply saying "I'm gonna widen & lengthen the frame", you need to figure out how much & then scale everything up...

I built it. Come to think of it though, I made some modifications to it. I made it wider longer and put a different engine in. I also added a role cage and some other slight mods. Never did end up posting a video. The only reason you don't see mine finished is because, despite the fact I can drive it and it works I still have problems to work out and I have no time or money because I will be going to college this fall. This build is very possible but you have to stick to it and be sure to look through other threads from people who have built it. If the build by silvergrizz is still up it helps a lot. When I bought the plans they did not quite work so good luck and always look a few steps ahead to spot impending problems so you can fix them before they happen. good luck :cheers2:
