Alpha Sports Sidewinder 150cc Help

Just got this go kart for my daughter. It's fun and torquey but after about 10 minutes of driving and full throttle, its makes a static pop sound. I'm guessing it's overheating too quick? Some times it just cuts out after a run and I have to wait to turn it back on. Any help is appreciated. the guy I bought it from told me to put 91 gas in it, is that okay?

First off welcome! Be sure to fill out your location info.

Do you know the engine type? 91 is OK but you need to be sure and clean the carb regularly. Honestly for smaller engines you don't want to use ethanol mixed gas, here is a thread with good info on the debate.

Ok thanks for the reply. I've heard from someone else that make sure the carb is cleaned. I don't know the engine or clutch.

Did a lil more research online and I think it has the "gy6" motor? I live on the outskirts of the Mojave desert so right now the motor is covered in desert dust. I can take pics tomorrow I guess

It sounds like something is getting hot. Do you have spark when it cuts out? When was the last time you replaced the sparkplug? Start with the basics.
