All of the parts to build a kart from scratch

Instead of just buying a go kart,I decided to start one from scratch and go around and buy all of the parts needed to build a one. What are the parts needed to build one and specifically the important & good ones. I know that I want an 150cc and about 6.5hp engine. Please help me out.

gotta go bigger than 6.5 man i you want to go anywhere, go with a 9 hp

6.5 could do you quite well. Your question is a little too vague, you should be a little more specific. First, you have to decide what it is you want. Racing kart? Yard/ fun kart? Offroader? Suspension? Automatic or manual transmission?

Once you have a better idea what you want, do some homework. Cruise this forum, look at pictures, read posts, make use of the search function. This should leave you with a really clear picture of things.

in a different thread he already said he wanted a 2 seater, any 2 seater i would recommend having 9 hp to have at least some power

That may be. But building a 2-seat racer (as an example) only to find the only place you can drive is is a ruddy farmer's field across the way would definately suck!

Besides- How the devil can you plan and build something if you haven't decided on something?

my carter 2906 is powered by a 6.5. http://www.velocitycycle.net/new_vehicle_detail.asp?veh=63473&CatDesc=Motorcycles&ModelYear=2008 with the 6.5 i do an easy 30, and can drift it pretty nicely. thats with a mal-adjusted tc. the kart weighs 350.

though i have a feeling that a 150cc chinese motor would be better. they are rated at 12-15hp, and have such upgrades as 4valve heads, big bore kits, turbo kits, etc.

haha it made me laugh too. lol. and um i could go with a 9hp and ya i have trails in my woods and i live on a dead-end street so i can drive it there. so i will want and offroader.

um my 150cc on my machine is only rated for 9 lol and if you went with a 9 hp clone they are 270 cc displacement technically

even at 9hp, it will stomp a stock 6.5. my 150 (gy6) had 12hp. with reverse.

Motorcycle engine, more bang for your buck. Dont waste your time with an industrial engine.

A motorcycle engine isnt much harder to set up than a industrial. My fist kart project was a 100cc sjifter kart.

the gy6 and honda 110 clone only have 2 mounts. one back bottom, and a top one about half way of the tranny. hooking up a bikes carb cable is far easier for me then trying to figure a way to hookup the 6.5's. i'm glad i knew how they hookup normally. and that i had some of those clips.
