when my engine is idling i put my hand by the head and feel air coming out from what seems to be the head gasket. this can't be normal. any suggestions? seems to idle fine.

and im noticing black oily liquid residue build up in my exhaust pipe. when it running it smokes white smoke pretty bad at wide open throttle. any ideas on that?

There is a fan on the flywheel, so you're probably feeling that. How's your oil level look?

oh duh. ha! and oil level is almost to the top of the fill spout. its real dirty too. i plan on changing it before i run it again.

WARNING!!! You may have WAY overfilled your engine with oil - which would definately make it smoke like mad and can cause some serious problems.

Exactly what do you mean by "fill spout"? These engines only need around an inch of oil in the bottom of the crankcase...

Yeah, if he level is at the top of both fill spouts, you've got way too much oil in your crankcase. It's probably running up into the PCV line, into the carb, and into the combustion chamber, creating the smoke.

Some engines contain either an extended oil fill tube or a standard fill hole with a dipstick for inspection. Others require you to remove the fill cap to check that the oil is at the fill line or the top of the fill hole.

:wai:thats taken directly from the site. so i am right about filling it to the top of the fill hole??

I am still a bit hesitant to say that you are correct. Post a pic of your engine fill hole

Ok, you're good - as long as the oil level is just about to run back out the fill hole you're good.
