WRONG.......just WRONG.......not even close. ....CFM's are measured in the single digits usually. ...a 9 CFM compressor @ 90psi...is one bad mo fo.......
And you can run anything on any compressor that can build the pressure. ...it's just a question of duration. .....
Well. To be fair, a 9CFM compressor isn't that impressive. Not detracting from your point, but even as soon as you jump to 220v, the numbers are easier to obtain. My pretty cheapo 220v 60g compressor runs around 15cfm@90. Runs whatever I need it to, from plasma to die grinder without impatiently waiting for it to regain pressure - I bought it used from my best friend's uncle and he used to paint cars with it - and painting sucks up a ton of air.
Now, you wanna talk some rotary screw, THEN we're finally reaching the 50+CFM numbers, up to like 130CFM. Now that's one bad mofo.
But to the point, I don't think I'd ever go back to a 110v compressor, at least not with using a plasma cutter. Severing 1/2" can go pretty slow. But maybe I've spoiled myself.
