So heres my problem, I have a go kart that needs a bearing ID: 3/4 in. and an OD: 1-3/8 in. Well thats fine and dandy except the only bearings that fit are economy bearings. It just so happens that economy bearings are my go kart's favorite food, and it eats them up in 2 days. So that got me looking for Precision bearings with those dimensions...but after 3 days of searching, i can't find ANYTHING! So i am asking you Forumites for help. Is there such a bearing in existence? If there is not I will have to sand down the axel to a 5/8 ID. the sanding will be blotchy, and terrible, but hopefully it will fit the 5/8 ID. I do not want to go that route. So is there any other way?! I am on a limmited budget and cannot afford to replace the hub, wheels, axel. i have no welding skills, nor a welder. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Thank You.

*edit: i also checked my local bearing store. I'm located in Austin, Texas, so if anyone knows any other bearing shops, feel free to tell me.

Yes, I'm using the bearing as an Axle bearing. the go cart is a homemade, one wheel drive go cart. the inner bearing on the drive wheel keeps disintegrating into dust.

Hi, I'm a parts dealer.

For a while I was able to get a premium 3/4 x 1 3/8 bearing. But the supplier no longer has them and doesn't know if or when they might get them again.

The standard bearing is only designed for walking speeds and thats why they are being eaten up.

If your cart has a fixed axle that doesn't spin, you should consider changing the axle to a 5/8 axle in place of sanding down what you have.

Unless you have a lathe or take your 3/4 axle to a machine shop to have them turn it down, you won't be happy with the results!

Your local hardware store will have 5/8 rod for just a few dollars.

Then you either need get a 3/4OD x 5/8ID bushing to mount it in the exsisting chassis hole, or you will need to drill new 5/8 holes to mount it.

I do sell the 3/4 to 5/8 bushings. Part #8271. If you want to go that route, PM me for details.

First off, THANK YOU to everyone that has responded.
the problem is, I can't weld. so I can't take the axle off, or put a new one on. i can't make any modifications to the frame..oh how I wish I could.

i was wondering, if i got a Tapered Bearing with a 3/4 ID, would that work?

That probably wouldn't work! The wheel would have to be able to accept the race for the tapered bearing. And that race is far bigger then the bore in the wheel now, so your wheel would have to be machined.

Can you post pictures of your axle and the set up you have? That way we can see what you are up against and maybe have a better idea of how to help you.

We've still got a few Heim 3/4" sealed bearings for 5 dollars each... when I say a few I mean we'll have 8 if you need eight but not much more. PM me if you want these, I guarantee you can not buy a better bearing for triple that price.

Ok for my 2 cents, either go with Cap Krunch and get pillow blocks from northertool for about $10-15 USD, I'm unaware of your location, or use bmikarts.com they have a great selection of kart bearings (atleast last time I looked) if that doesn't help use grainger.com they WILL have your bearings just maybe not the price you want.

***Sorry balz i overlooked that***

In his first post he said Austin, Texas. Live axle would be a great choice if his kart is primarily off-road and he is willing to spend over 200 dollars completing this conversion.
