I'm still searching through free online plans, where I found these plans. They are some of the best and most detailed plans I have come across. you can down load them here:

http://www.cutpriceracing.com.au/store/Free-Racing-Go-Kart-Plans/

Some Aussies on here might be familiar with the Website 'Cut Price Racing'. And from what a little bird told me The owner/manager of it is a member on this forum too? But just for anyone that wants to buy some go kart parts I would hit them up. great range and pretty good prices (For Australia anyway).

Now, I want to know what do you guys think of this design? is it good? and how strong would it be?

I have saved some cash over the past few months and I have $300 to build my frame, would this be enough for the steel and to pay labor of the bending of the frame? Anyone's knowledge and guidance would still be greatly appreciated.

He sure is... Although, he's only ever made 2 posts so far... I've bought parts from him at very reasonable prices.

The design looks ok to me, I mean, Paul wouldn't provide the plans if it wasn't safe (for liability reasons).

Honestly, I don't think $300 would cover it.

What engine are you considering?

If you can weld, make a jig using a sheet of plywood and pieces of angle iron with holes drilled in it so you can screw it to plywood. Cut all your pieces and lay them out, brace them from moving, then tack weld, check for level and plumb(square), then weld away.....

I already have engine, Clutch axle wheels. steering shaft with wheel and boss, front spindles, front wheels, tie-rods, seat and I am a confident welder. what else do I need to buy?

I am using a full crank Victa lawnmower engine. Like in the previous posts. I got a frame drawn out on my shed floor. Had a good think of my design and scrapped it. now I'm back to square one.

Hold up, I'm lost; are you saying you're not going with the design above (the CPR plans)? It's as close to a racing frame as you're gonna get building your own. If your parts don't fit, MAKE 'EM FIT, that's what I did...

I am using these plans, because the rectangular chassis I first drew out on my shed floor wasn't acquitted for my needs. so I am wanting to know, would this design be good? or are there better plans out there?

Right, now I get it...

After a quick google search, it seems they're the best you're gonna find. As I stated earlier, they seem ok, could do with a tweak here & there but, nothing major.

Here are those plans in their entirity, including tips...

If you're good enough with designing, anderkart posted a pic of a frame with measurements some time ago, I can try to dig it up for you...

James, here's that pic Fabroman mentioned:

This kart is a 1999 Beisse B3, 100cc. Sprintkart model. The Chomolly frame rails mesure 33mm OD. and have a 3mm wall thickness.

You'll find more pics of this kart in this thread: http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=3664

Thanks, saved me the trouble of searching...

Just to clarify, are those measurements inside, outside or centres?

James, not all you have to do is convert those measurements to metric :lolgoku:
