Hello all,

I’m looking for another project and I want to build or retrofit a mini bike. Usage would be to ride around the neighborhood (I’m around 215 lbs) to partake in foolish redneckery with my neighborhood friends as well as maybe some light trail riding. Looking for something with plenty of power, but not so ridiculous that my 10 & 12 year old kids cannot ride it.

Based on the research I’ve done, it looks like my options are as follows:

1) Buy a used MB200, Coleman, or another mini bike and fix up, or
2) By a frame and start from scratch (which is my preference), but I have only found a Taco or Azusa option (Is that really it?)

I would prefer larger (taller) over smaller tires and will more than likely want to run a TAV for the lower end torque, but also because I’m familiar with them and have parts. So, I’m looking for your thoughts, opinions and experiences based on cool factor, parts availability, customization options, rideability, etc. - Would like to stay at or under 1K

You’ve all helped me get up to speed with karts, but now I need to understand the pro's and con's with the various min bike options and appreciate your feedback.

I have an El Lobo minibike and love it.

Same guy that runs the first site.

This is the next mini I want. 19” tires, Full suspension, torque converter, lights,...
MB200-2
Everything you need and under your budget. But there’s no build process needed. Less fun if you don’t have to build it. If you build it, they will come. Shop around for best price with shipping. Used to be $800 w/free shipping on some sites.

Appreciate the feedback, seems like some decent options. How well do these fat tire rigs handle and steer? Anyone else have additional opinions?

I have no personal experience. However after watching several YouTube videos, they seem to do just fine.

Take a look at this bike. Pretty much the same as a Baja Warrior MB200, just with different badging. Only disadvantage is that it is only available online.

And these bikes handle quite well. As long as they have enough air in the tires. Acceleration is ok stock. The tires have enough grip to grab in sugar sand.

My only complaint is that on these bikes the crank has a threaded end. So a metric lug nut is necessary to hold a torque converter driven pulley on.
