Is that a sand blasting cabinet in the background. Nice work area. Just out of curiosity, how tall are the rear tires. Looks like you have a rear axle and sprocket. How many teeth on the sprocket? I'm with Denny, I think a white seat would look killer. But we all know who's opinion really matters.

Pancho, that is a Harbor Freight cabinet. I have one just like it. But we need to get you welding first. It opens up a whole new world!

Well, tha painting of the body is done, a long with some of the attachments. Next will be construction of the moveable pedals and paint.

Once that's figured out, dry fit and work on mounting of engine with components.

Yeah it's a harbor freight sandblasting cabinet that I put on wheels, to help with mobility and storing it.

I don't remember the size of the wheels, but I'll go check in a bit. I'm using a 35 chain and sproket. I think the sproket is 10"? I've ordered so much stuff I don't remember now.

The seat that I have is from a craftsman riding mower, that's adjustable. Need to look into mounting that here soon too.

Here is a pic of the tires and the sizes. Crap, forgot to look up how many teeth on the sproket. I think 60? Sigh....

The green and black look real good together. Your rear tires are 16". With a lot of stop and go driving ( which there will be with a new, young driver ) it will tear a centrifugal clutch up. You are going to want to use a 30 series torque converter. Maybe you already know that. Even more so if you are planning on limiting throttle travel to keep speed down at first. Is your large axle sprocket a # 35. Does your #35 go on to the teeth properly. Sorry if it sounds like I am interrogating you. I don't know how much of this stuff you know. I am trying to think ahead of problems your art bound to run into.

No worries, I don't know ****. So any information is welcome. I'm not sure how to even answer your questions if that helps. I don't know what a 30 series center clutch is. I do plan to limit throttle . My axle sproket is a 35 to match the chain, and the axle sproket is a 60 tooth if that helps

Go to the GoKart Supply website and read about the 30 series TAV II CVT. It will teach you a lot. It is the system you will need to go with. A 20 series actually would be even better.
Ok, sounds good. Now I also have to look into the type of centrifugal clutch I did buy. Lol.

Ok my head hurts now after reading about all the different manufacturers and types of torque converters. Yeah I should have just gone with one of those, instead of the centrifugal clutch. Especially after I saw that a gear box could be added, so the granddaughter could have reverse. Lol. Damnit, what a predicament I'm in now. Lol

Sorry to hear you already bought a centrifugal clutch. Try to return it. The problem with the clutch is it is either engaged completely, or it isn't. There's not much middle ground, slippage. Thats when they get red hot and fail. A torque converter is a complete transmission. It can be driven at any throttle setting. The 30 series is much more popular than the 20, and will work well enough. You can find them
( the complete system ) on Amazon for about $70. You will not get a better one by spending more money. They are all made in China and are all the same. I have five of them. One on everything I own. Do like Denny suggest, and read up on them. They are not hard to understand, and are easy to install. They start out in a lower gear ( and will stay there all day if you want ) and shift to a higher gear as more throttle is applied. Just like your car.

Don't worry about reverse right now. Just get it running and get her driving. The kart is small enough and light enough that you just pick up the front end and turn it around if they get it stuck. Ask me how I know.

Yeah I'll try to return it if I can. I'll have to look up a diagram of how it should be set up in my application as well. This will be a much better set up than the centrifugal clutch for sure.

Oh yeah, totally agree.

So I have the predator 79cc engine and it has a 5/8 shaft. Looking up torque converters, im having a difficult time finding one. This one says it will work with 5/8 and 3/4 setups, but then contradicts that with the specs. Almost looks like I need to piece this together?

The small shaft diameter is why I recommended the 20 series. If you would have went with a 212 Predator then you could easily use a 30 series TAV II. You know it won’t be any slower with the 3 hp. RPM is RPM no matter what size the engine is. Maybe look at getting a 5hp. Use the centrifugal clutch and 3hp for an old style mini bike build for grandpa. Just an idea.

Hahahaha well, ****! Guess I should have started with this forum before buying stuff. Oh well, live and learn. By getting the 3hp, I was generally trying to keep her top speed under control. Lol. Oh well, guess I'll look into the 20 series torque converter. Papa don't need a mini bike right now! Lol
