Hi, I want to add a 12v lawn mower battery onto my cart and I have this coming off the engine. I looked around and it looks like I have a stator? which is what I need? How do I connect the yellow and white wires up to the battery so that it can be charged while the engine is running? I assume this can be done since the engine produces power so it must be able to charge a battery. Do I need a diode so that the power can only go to the battery and not back?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If its anything like my 18hp B&S twin, you'll need to excite one of the wires (It needs 12v to make 12v)

On mine I have a white & red wire, the red wire needs to be excited (Its wise to have this on an ignition switch so that its not constantly trying to put power into the stator)

Then the white would be 12v (out of stator.)

This is how it was explained to me from a buddy, but I have not tested it, but it seems logical.
