we don't get a ton of lawn mower builds, but I don't have a problem with making a section if people want it.

I have a couple that i will be doing.

But maybe a basic tractor build section rather than limiting it to racing racing. There are cool tractors done not for racing alone.

I have a funny story about racing lawn mowers. An elderly former coworker of mine had a hobby of racing lawn mowers and from what I understand he was very good in his day.

One day before a race he lost a drive belt on his mower and had to come up with a replacement. Being that we work in the conveyor industry he had all sorts of misc conveyor parts rolling around in his truck from the last 50 years. He dug around and found an O-ring for a UBT (Urithane Belt Transfer) it's a 3/8" dia welded clear O-ring made by Durabelt VERRRY TOUGH! seemed to be close enough in size so he wrestled it onto his mower and won the race. He said it worked so well that he just left it on there. He kept winning races with it for the next few years. The last I heard it was still on there and he was still winning races... the story was probably better when he told it I think.

I might be starting a racing mower type build with a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R engine and transmission. It will end up probably closer to a go kart than a riding lawn mower when finished. At the least, I'm going to flip the pulleys around so we can use it as a go kart in its current condition.

I am trying to hold off on the neighborhood custom builds this year and concentrate on my mower that will have a polaris 250 on it from a quad.

How about entering your up coming build in this years build off?

I would try to, my health is a big factor when working outside. High humidity, damp from alot of rain, 90-100° affects my emphysema where i cant breath. Then of course not breathing good puts a strain on my heart that only functions at just over 50% output.

We shall see

That sucks, I am sorry for you, I would like to see your build because I am interested in other power plants not just the same old clone engine powered stuff. There was someone in the local ads around my location that was giving away a two stroke Polaris 250 quad away and I was tempted to get it but I let it slide now I wish that I would have picked it up! Oh well, you can only store so much stuff, thank you for the reply and I wish the best for you sir!

Sounds like a nice build ML. Sorry to hear about your health restrictions. Might be time to bring the tinkering inside to a better controlled environment. Who needs a dinning room when the couch is so much more comfortable and table stands are widely available. You really don't need a whole room just for eating anyway. :)

Take your window out and extend the hole down to the floor and put a ramp up to your new wide door. Then you can roll projects in and out easily without getting the carpet dirty in the rest of the house. :) A walkout basement makes things so much easier.

I would like to see a racing lawnmower section because it would be a great way to learn about them.

All I know about them right now is that they are cool.

I would love to learn what is under the covers. The tricks and techniques undoubtedly would spill over for our go-kart builds.
