A quick internet challenge

Many years ago I heard a story about Dean Martin...who was notorious for his drinking.

The details are sketchy in my head because it happened a long time ago....but here's the general details as I remember it told. Dean and a couple of other guys....(don't remember if they were rat pack members or what) were extremely intoxicated and driving home....so they let a young kid drive....

They got pulled over because the kid was all over the road....the cop asked Dean why they were letting this kid drive....Dean says: "Hey...he's the best we got!"

The cop let them go. (I'm also unclear WHERE this story came from...but it had a strong air of legitimacy at the time.)

So...internet gurus...see if you can dig this up....I seem to be striking out...but it HAS to be out there somewhere!

I didn't make it up...but I tried for quite a while with no success, before and after posting this. I have given up. It's not important anyway.Maybe the story was debunked and I missed it...or it just never made it to the internet. It's not on the internet, so it can't be true.

This was over 30 years ago. So I either saw it on TV or read it somewhere.

Sorry guys...obviously...except for some California weirdo that was either looking at bible passages or porno.....Y'all looked....

I wasn't trying to play games here...I'm better at fixing stuff than internet....(REMEMBER GUYS....I'M ALMOST 60!)

search term variation

"kid driver" "dean martin" (in quotes otherwise half the results will be james dean's accident)

frankly, this sort of trivia is terribly hard to find, not only because that incident happened some 50 years ago, but also the information is fairly vague as well;

and if it's not "common knowledge" it's very hard to get the search terms correct to find just what's needed and filter most of the crappy google-alike-search-results

To me, that sounds like a talk show story...
on ed sullivan or whatever. *shrugs*

Thanks Alex...I think that's what it was...and you're right...probably closer to 50 than 30....his only defense; "Hey ....I'm drunk officer...but I'm only wearing the orange V neck because it's the best I got!"
