i want to make my first chain driven scooter with a weed eater engine. okay what kind of chain and sprocket would i need there are so many different ones 40,60 tooth sprocket? or what number chain? and what do the numbers mean when they have them by the chain?

The number on the chain usually refers to a particular size, pitch and width of some of the chains components.

You'd need a small sprocket, preferably some sort of a clutch, for the engine and a larger sprocket for the wheel. I don't know much about what's available for those small engines, but I'm also interested in finding out. Hopefully someone else will add more to this.

ya i would like to put a centrifugal clutch on the thing just need to measure the shaft...wouldnt a centrifugal clutch work?

um oh ya i have another as well when i have a chain driven scooter does the chain always spin when ur moving?

Yes, assuming you can find on that fits on there just right.

um oh ya i have another as well when i have a chain driven scooter does the chain always spin when ur moving?

Yes, but that's what the clutch is for, it'll rotate freely as long as the engine isn't revving high enough to engage.
