gixxer kart is the term given to a kart with a suzuki gsxr engine(the motorbike the engine comes from is nicknamed a gixxer). You can put any motorbike engine in a kart, you will just need to beef everything up alot, you will need a super strong axle and hubs, high speed bearings back and front, a sprocket that uses the same kind of chain as the engine. It will be hell fast, should be fun haha

Check out this site: Motokarts.com, it's all about bigger bike engine karts, you can find some good ideas about what's needed and what other people have used successfully there.

It all really depends on gearing, and the type of kart your building. 91hp is quite a bit (im jealous my kart will only have 36 when shes done haha), but definitely not too much, theres no such thing. I doubt you will instantly lose control once you hit the gas, but you may have to go easy accelerating.

i was mostly worried about the slim possibility that my cart will be too light and be picked off the ground. maybe im just paranoid.

also, i am going to need a solid frame. My friend was thinkin about buying a used go kart and swapping the engines. i would think that a lot of the parts would have to be changed out. What should i do? i am not the best welder.

If it's gonna be a race type kart, and you're not good at welding and fabricating, you'll be better off to find a used 125cc shifter kart with no motor and modify it from there. It will already have the front brakes, a 50mm rear axle, 3 or 4 axle bearings, and the stiffest frame that's commonly used.

:iagree:

A used 125 shifter kart would end up handling, stopping and just generally holding up to the stress way better than the average fun/yard type kart.
