8hp engine will it work

this engine came off of a generator and I am worried about the shaft - will it work?

Only by reworking shaft dimensions.
We avoid them.
Best to put generator back together, sell it...and get the correct engine.

unforutnnately the generator did not come with the project just the engine I guess this project just came to a halt

I have a 5hp off of a pressure washer I will look into it tommorrow just dont know if it will be big enough to turn atv tires

You're not out of options, yet. You could get the shaft machined to an appropriate dimension, or purchase the correct crankshaft.

wow, i just finished rebuilding my 8hp briggs today. search on ebay "8hp briggs crankshaft"

you could get a new one on their website but it may be $$$$$

the shaft on these youre looking for is a 1" bore with keyway.

ok I just got the pump off the 5 hp where is the best place to buy a clutch from?

ebay it. look for a maxtorque clutch and then whatever shaft diameter yours is. probably 3/4" though. i could be wrong.

Before you but a clutch, does the 5hp have a keyway and is not tapered?

yes it has a keyway and it is not tapered like the pics
