Does anyone know how to set up the throttle linkages on a 8hp briggs vert. shaft; or has a picture of how it is set up? I cant seem to get it right.

Thanks in advanced for your help.

ok, thanks!

Also i have a 5 speed transmission that runs a belt from the vert. shaft and then has a chain that runs horizontal; and i am wondering if i will loose a tun of speed if i mount this motor on my bike, or not. Thanks again.

Probably, but only a bit.

Just a tip, the governor also connects to the throttle butterfly. Don't disconnect that.

Well..i have tried many times and i still cant get my throttle set up! This is the engine i have exactly
http://www.briggsandstratton.com/pdf/illustrated_parts_list/100%5CMS8151.pdf
When i set it up i cant move the throttle at all, the valve is just stuck close, and wont open no matter how hard i pull/push the throttle. I also am not sure how to set up the governor 100%

If anyone has any pictures, that would help a lot, and im not very advanced with small engines, so i dont know all the terms; but i know some:bannana:

Thanks again

Seems like you have a single speed engine. Or designed to run at a single, constant speed.

Well it shouldnt be running at a single speed? Im pretty sure its not a single speed engine.

If it isn't, find where the throttle cable connected to originally.

Thats what im trying to do lol, but how i am trying is the cable isnt long enough so the valve stays shut all the time. And yes it has a governor.

Want me to post some pictures of it?

Ok i decided to take pics anyway...sorry but there bad quality!

Here you see the 2 linkages coming from the carb, the one attaches to the governor, there is a spring with it that should attach to the throttle some how too but im not sure:mad2:

Im holding the throttle onto the mounts, he linkages attatch behind it obviously

Just tell me if u need any other pictures too...thanks for all the help also:)

If i forgot the gov, would i just not connect and let it hang there, or would i take it out and weld a plate over the hole?

Im also going to try to get a twist throttle for it, so im thinking i should probably just hold off on the throttle for a while. Any good links for a good quality twist throttle? I think i found one on NT, but it got all 1 stars, so i don't want that one lol.

If its not mowing lawns (what it sounds like to me), go get a billet rod from ARC and remove the gov lever, I haven't had problems leaving the gov unit in the motor.
