I have a '70's or '80's model t go-cart with no engine. I believe it was supposed to be a Briggs and Stratton 3.5 HP motor, but it's gone. What motor would you suggest to keep it fun and easy to install? It looks like it may have been electric start or at least the last motor used was. Thanks!:auto:

a clone, in a vintage kart!? :ack2:

2-5hp briggs or Tecumseh flat head all the way. keep the vintage feel, and get yourself a good ol' engine. should be had cheaper than a silly clone too.

I could not agree less.
I would think that a show piece would require as little power as possible.
A 2 or 2.5 hp would be enough....unless you wanna do wheelies.

I agree. It is a vintage cart. Try to get some info on it and get whatever engine was on it or something really close.

I have 1 that's all original. Mine has a 3.5 hp tecumseh motor on it. My dad bought it new for me in 1974 and it came in a box and had to be put together.

Buddy of mine just sold one of these parade cars, it had a Briggs flathead 5hp with an electric starter - the only one I've ever seen. It had a jackshaft to gear it down to maybe 10-15mph top speed, but tons of torque - for moving large old men with silly hats down the street, I guess.

I'm not sure a Clone would fit in there, might not be enough fore-aft room.
