depends on gear ratio, tire size, what you will be riding on, weight, etc. If your talking about a basic 5:1 ratio and a race kart, yea maybe like 45-50 MPH. I would suggest removing the governor for a lot of increased speed and the best part is it's free! You might hit 60-65 with governor removed...

Hey, Deecc, as a rule all engines are governed at 3600 RPM, So all more HP does is get the engine up to speed easier, If you disable or remove the govenor you can get upwards of 5000 RPM on a Lifan 6.5 but that would be stressing it pretty hard. Engine RPM + gearing is where your speed comes from. You can find all kinds of gearing answers in the Search feature at the top of the page. OH and welcome to the forum. :rolleyes3:

I'd just like to add in that your engine also needs the power to push the kart at the speed against air resistance, friction, that kinda stuff... If you gear your 6.5hp kart for 100, it's not gonna happen.

Just get a billet connecting rod, flywheel is not necessary unless you are really over revving it.

havent had a rod blow, and i got a clone waaaayyy up there. i made a fatal mistake though, i ground off the EZ start. now its like impossible to start and it keeps destroying pull starts (and my hands)

If you want to be really sure i would get a billet flywheel, billet rod and 18lb valve springs, along with hp mids. Thats about $200 tho.

No it does not. It doesn't affect cam lift or any other aspect of performance other than making it easy to start.

I don't know how much of an effect it really has, but I have heard of people disabling the compression relief to achieve a very low idle speed. IIRC, a member here did it some time back on a bike.

If I were making an attempt at it, I would be tempted to not remove it, but alter the spring tension so it simply disengages at a lower RPM.
