6.5hp motor issue please help

Hi all

I recently purchased one of those Chinese go karts for my son

The seller advised all it needed was a throttle cable.

Cable came today and it won't seem to run right.

Takes a bit to starts and dies when on load when a rider is on it.

Took the fuel talk and I seen they have modified the govenour plate

What exactly have the done?? And what. Can I do to fix it???

You'll have to remove the air box off aswell to really see what has been done.
It defiantly has been messed with... Luckily it hasn't blown up yet(well the rod that is)...

There's just no telling what someone else may have done to an engine.
If they modified the throttle plate, they may have done more that that.

If it were me, I think I'd drain the oil, and have a look inside.
If everything appears good there. I'd close it back up, check the valve clearance, and make sure they are operating properly. Also inspect the plug.
Have a look at the flywheel. Make sure the key hasn't snapped and the timing is off.

If none of that does any good, then it's on to the carb for cleaning.

If everything is good, and you have gas getting to the carb, and the gas isn't old, and it still doesn't run, it might be $99 time.

I think, They removed the Governor. Very Typical thing to do. But they did not remove the internal parts, and they just wire tied the Governor arm.
As far as how it runs... Probably just need the Carb cleaned.

You will have to take the air filter off and show us what has been done to the carby linkages.
Do what BbqJoe said to be sure everything inside is in good condition

I have one of those chinese go karts. I love it. I'm in the middle of adding a torque converter to mine to make it more driveable.
