I suggest you re-think that. If you're going to defeat the governor, tear open the case and do it right. There's a button between the flyweights and governor arm that's not really retained by anything- it's feasible that going well beyond the governed RPM could cause this button to pop out of the flyweight's "grip" and cause engine damage. Just my opinion.

Yea i was waiting for someone to say it. There's a reason people actually take the parts out. Its simple enough.

well at 10:1, youre basically running it with no load once you get to 4k RPM. its gonna blow up.

a sprocket is really cheap, i think its better get that than a $100 engine.

i rebuilt my clone recently and this button he speaks of was floating around inside. it was stuck to the face of the cam gear when i pulled the side cover off.

yea i agree. honestly i think it recently fell off. and id have to say i feel its high rpms that did it. i dont usually rev it super high you know amybe 5-5.5. but a friend of mine rode it recently and revved it much higher than i think i would have and i believe this was what caused it to come off. the button had very little damage compared to what it probably should have been so i dont think it was floating around long. ill see if i can find it and take some pictures(the button). its probably reusable although i never will(i just broke the gear into peices).
