6.5 hp greyhound gear ratio

i have a 6.5 hp greyhound engine and i want to be able to drift and do burnouts in my go cart I'm building and i was wondering what the correct gear ration would be for quick acceleration and decent high end speed. i have a 12 tooth cent. clutch and when i step on the gas i want the tires to spin. Thoughts?

I'd say at least 120 teeth on the axle

You need to list the tire size. Oh and I'm thinking a TC not a cent clutch.
Lastly 120t sprocket will be at least 14.5"OD. And probably won't move at all.

With only 6.5hp, you're not gonna get both; you can either have loads of torque for acceleration, a massive top speed OR an even balance of the two...

To achieve what you want, you need multiple gears...

well depends on numerous things.. like how tall are your tires?
how heavy is the kart and last but not least how enormous is your buttocks
Or in other words:

No honestly..
a small kid in a lightweight kart with small wheels can get a 6.5HP clone to spin tires with a gear ratio as high as 6-7:1
a big adult in a two seater buggy on 22" rear wheels will not be able to do so with a clutch.
(the gear ratio would need to be as low as 20:1 so the sprocket would be too big to even fit on the axle)

So your only option if you really want to do burn outs might be a torque converter or a jackshaft set up...

to judge we need more data!
