Just bought a 6.5hp Lifan (greyhound) blue clone motor from Harbor Freight, since they gottem on sale. Since I live in the crummy state of CA...it's a CARB motor.

It appears theres the upper part of the fuel tank has a fitting that goes to the air intake. Theirs also two hoses that go from the air intake to a box that the manual calls a "secondary filling valve".

I'm under the impression these are both smog garbage? These pieces are not on the motor pictured on the manual cover. I know...we need pics. I'll see if I can get some shortly.

I plan on running a header and k&n style intake...I just wanted to make sure this crap could go...or if the design change for 2009 motors due to Honda's lawsuits against clone motors makes these pieces nessecary.

Thanks

No, they're useless, easy way is to just buy a new carb. Its probably jetted and modified to run properly with that stuff attached.

Great thanks. I went ahead and pulled plastic cover...and yea...it just loops from the gas tank to the secondary filler valve, then to the air filter. I already chucked it. Looks like other then the valve cover venting into the carb (can tell...it goes behind the plastic cover where the choke/fuel valve is) and the charcoal thingy off the exhaust pipe...it's probably not any different.

I'm ganna run it with the junk off and see how it does after I pull the gov.
