Too much fuel won't harm your engine, but if it runs too lean that can definitely burn
a hole in your piston. A lean mixture (too much air for the amount of fuel) burns hotter.

Yeah, air is what makes things burn hotter. When you start a fire, it's better to blow on it, rather than dump alcohol or something on it.

It was the float!

All I did was lower the float a little and that fixed it. The carb works fine. Thanks everyone for the the info. This Tecumseh is actually a bit too fast now......need bigger more aggressive rear tires!
